We are only seven days into our tenure with the new managing agents, KFH and therefore I will be sending some emails over the next few weeks to update you on progress of the handover and changes that have happened. Please understand that the RQRA has not made any direct decisions, we are discussing options with KFH but it is their responsibility to make the final decisions. Also I will only tell you information that has been confirmed. New Night Concierge I would like to welcome our new permanent member of concierge staff, Ian who will be covering night shifts so feel free to introduce yourself if you see him. We now have an excellent concierge team with Sohail and Chris covering day shifts and Hakan and Ian covering nights. Paul will continue to be the Head Concierge for the time being. Change in Lift Maintenance Contractors I can confirm that we have now signed a new agreement for lift maintenance. The new agreement is all-inclusive for repair parts and service. They will also do 12 maintenance visits a year compared to 4 with Consort's Amalgamated Lifts. We are also in discussions of putting in Lift Keys for free compared to Consort who wanted to charge us £12,000 for the privilege. This is a little more expensive at £10,000 per annum compared with £6,000 under Amalgamated Lifts however we also spent £20,000 on repairs in 2013 which will be covered under this new agreement and the lifts are coming up to 10 years old so are more likely to break down so hopefully you will agree that it is the right decision. Redevelopment of the Gas Works (Part Two) As you may have seen in your mailbox there is another public exhibition for the proposed redevelopment of the Gas Works in Sury Basin from the Berkeley Group. The public exhibitions will be on: Wednesday 8th January (4pm to 8pm); and Saturday 11th January (10am to 2pm) This will be held at the Judge Lecture Theatre (access via London Road), Tiffin School (the one just off the one way system), Kingston upon Thames, KT2 6RL It would be great if as many of you could attend as possible. The key areas of concern we raised last time were the proposed closure of Kingsgate Road making Seven Kings Way the main road to Richmond Road. In addition it was the building of an 8 storey halls of residence on the corner of Kingsgate Road and Seven Kings Way. Let's hope they have changed these plans. As chairman I will be going to the Wednesday exhibition. If you would like to join me I will be at Tiffin School at approximately 7pm on Wednesday evening. I have also added a forum topic so you can post your views and opinions of the redevelopment. Forum Topics Here is a list of the latest open forum topics. We would all be grateful if you can post replies to the topics you can help with. - Redevelopment of Kingston Gas Works - Reliable painters and decorators - Instruction manual for Alexander House Storage Heaters Many thanks Scott Whaley (Chairman of RQRA)
